The McIntire of Commerce’s Center for Investors and Financial Markets (CIFM) is where McIntire’s finance ambitions come together, connecting faculty research, student preparation, and industry engagement. We help UVA students compete for and win the most demanding roles in finance, and we advance the study of how investors behave and how markets work. The Center was established in 1999.
Research
CIFM funds and convenes research on how investors behave and how markets work in household finance, asset pricing, corporate finance, strategy, and corporate governance through direct research support, lab sponsorship, and workshops and seminars.
Student Support
Through support for the UVA Finance Academy, employer treks, student-run investment clubs, national case competitions, and industry data tools, CIFM prepares UVA students for careers in investment banking, private markets, private banking, asset management, trading, and restructuring.
Alumni & Industry Engagement
Investors, policymakers, and UVA alumni come to Grounds through our Professional Speaker Series, host students on trek visits, mentor, and judge competitions — relationships that translate directly into internships and full-time offers.
