Academic Advising

Whether you're a transfer student or a first- or second-year UVA student, you’ll be assigned to an official adviser in the school you’re enrolled in. You can expect to meet with your adviser each semester before you enroll in courses. But, as you begin to explore a pathway to McIntire, we have ways you can connect and seek advice.

McIntire's Office of Undergraduate Admission is available to first- and second-year students currently studying any major who are interested in business. If you want to learn more about your options and prerequisites, meet with us and see what McIntire can offer you. Walk-in advising is also available during the academic year.  

During the summer, you'll be assigned a dedicated academic adviser from the Student Services team. Throughout your time at McIntire, this person will assist you with numerous aspects of your academic and extracurricular experience, including course selection, degree requirements, and engagement opportunities. You will meet with your adviser on a regular basis, but they are also available for one-on-one appointments as needed. 

When you're evaluating or preparing for an international study experience, there are a number of factors to consider. The Global Programs team will advise you throughout the entire process, from program selection to the time you return, and they will assist you with academic planning and financial aid to ensure you are set up for success. 

McIntire faculty are passionate about creating an environment in which their expertise contributes to the long-term success of their students. They’ll work with you as informal mentors, providing guidance and feedback about coursework, concentration planning, and career opportunities.
