Thought Leadership

CMIT scholars publish in MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, the Journal of Management Information Systems, and MIS Quarterly Executive, and they write for the managers who must act on their findings. Current research covers why AI adoption stalls inside organizations, how workers respond to phishing and social engineering, and how firms structure product and project work.

State of AI in the Commonwealth

In February 2026, the Center partnered with AI Research @ UVA, the University of Virginia's cross-school AI research program, to publish State of AI in the Commonwealth. Drawing on nearly 200 sources, the report examines Virginia's position across five areas: AI investment, workforce readiness, education, research, and public policy. It also identifies recommended actions in each area.

The report was presented at the winter 2026 Knowledge ∞ Continuum in Rosslyn, Virginia. The six recorded briefings below explore its central questions and findings.
