About me:

Hi! My name is Ryan Bowers, and I'm a fourth-year student from Alexandria, VA. At McIntire, I'm concentrating in Finance, and I have a second major in Economics, through the College of Arts & Sciences, and a minor in Leadership & Public Policy (Batten). Outside of the classroom, I am involved in a number of student organizations. I serve on Student Council as the Vice President for Organizations (oversee funding and leadership of all 800+ clubs!), as well as on the Fourth-Year Trustees Service and Wellness Committee. In addition, I'm involved in a few clubs, including the Frank Batten Investment Fund (an ESG-focused investment club) and Enactus (a pro bono consulting group working with businesses in Charlottesville). However, one of my favorite commitments is Club Tennis, where I play on the travel team (we won nationals last year!). When I'm not involved in extracurricular activities, I enjoy reading, hiking, and playing/watching sports.

This is my third semester now in McIntire, and I have loved the prior two! McIntire's third-year experience, where you work with the same 50 students the entire year and get the chance to pitch ideas to real companies and CEOs at the end of the semester, has made my experience unforgettable. The curriculum has allowed me to understand business beyond finance through Accounting, Marketing, and Management courses as well. Also, the professors are passionate about what they teach and committed to helping students outside the classroom.

Fun fact: I hold the Virginia state record for the pacer test (136!).
