About me:

My name is Katie Whalen, and I am a fourth-year student at McIntire! I am absolutely ecstatic to return this year as a McIntire Ambassador and cannot wait to advise, give tours, and meet our prospective McIntire students! Applying to McIntire has been one of the best decisions I have made in college.

Not only have I found a deeper passion for my core business classes through McIntire’s enthusiastic professors and rigorous curriculum, but I have also been enriched by the McIntire community. My fellow McIntire students inspire me every day with their ambition, enthusiasm, and kindness, and I truly feel that I have found my people at UVA. I love that, as an ambassador, I am able to share this experience with others.

Outside of McIntire, I love all things health and exercise, so you can find me at Memorial gym, running around Charlottesville, or at Hot Yoga Cville in the Downtown Mall! I also adore coffee, so you might find me at Grit or Mudhouse! In terms of academics, I have a passion for national defense, accounting, and public policy. I spent last summer in Huntsville, AL, working for the U.S. Missile Defense Agency, and this past summer I interned in KPMG’s Federal Advisory division in Washington, DC. I am looking forward to using the tools that I have developed at McIntire to merge my intersectional interests in policy and commerce in my future career!

Fun fact: I memorized 101 digits of pi in fourth grade!
