Jeff Agoos

President & General Manager, Portland Thorns FC

Jeff Agoos is President and General Manager of Portland Thorns FC, one of the National Women's Soccer League's flagship franchises, a role he has held since 2025. As the club's senior sporting executive, Jeff oversees every facet of the Thorns' soccer operation—from analytics and player transactions to roster construction, staff management, facility operations, and the club's relationship with the league office. He reports directly to ownership and works at the intersection of competitive strategy and organizational leadership, responsibilities that put him at the center of decisions shaping the club's on-field product and its long-term direction.

Before joining the Thorns, Jeff served as General Manager of the New York Red Bulls in Major League Soccer, where he spent years building rosters, managing player transactions, and running front-office operations for a top-tier professional club. He also served as Senior Vice President of Competition and Medical, a league-office role overseeing on-field competition standards and player health and safety across the league. Together, that experience gave him a front-row seat to both the club and league sides of American professional soccer, and a working understanding of what it takes to compete and win at the highest levels of the domestic game.

Jeff's ties to the sport run deep and personal. As a player, he earned 134 caps with the U.S. Men's National Team and was part of the 1998 and 2002 FIFA World Cups while winning five MLS championships over the course of his playing career. His connection to the American game reaches back further still, to friendships and relationships formed during the 1994 World Cup era, a formative period for soccer in this country. That firsthand experience—as both a player and an executive—shapes how he thinks about talent, culture, and what it takes to build a club capable of delivering the world's best players and performances.

Today, Jeff is a frequent voice on front-office strategy, roster construction, and the business of women's professional sports, drawing on both his MLS and NWSL experience to speak candidly about what it takes to run a competitive, sustainable professional soccer organization.
