Recruiting a Diverse Community

The Commerce Cohort, managed by the McIntire Office of Undergraduate Admission, supports a group of high-achieving, high-need first- and second-year UVA students with an academic interest in Commerce. After completing the first-year courses, second-year Cohort students have the opportunity to participate in Cohort-exclusive workshops and presentations that facilitate personal exploration and development to better leverage skills, build their personal brand, enhance resumes, and deepen their understanding of the business industry.

Offered through McIntire’s Graduate Marketing & Admissions Office, “Meet McIntire” is an interactive weekend workshop designed to give college juniors and seniors an opportunity to explore the University of Virginia and gain a holistic view of the M.S. in Accounting Program at McIntire. Participants learn how to navigate the admissions process; attend a mock graduate class; gain leadership and team-building experience; and get to know the diverse students, faculty, and staff who are an integral part of McIntire's close-knit community.

McIntire is a member of The PhD Project, which has a mission "to increase workplace diversity by increasing the diversity of business school faculty who encourage, mentor, support, and enhance the preparation of tomorrow's leaders."

The Women in Business Symposium is an interactive weekend workshop designed to give college juniors and seniors an opportunity to explore the University of Virginia and learn how the M.S. in Commerce empowers women to become citizen leaders. Participants explore meaningful career paths, attend a “Women in Leadership” case workshop, and build their professional network by connecting with students, alumnae, faculty, and staff.
