Hi everyone! My name is Sophia White, and I’m a third-year from San Anselmo, CA, concentrating in Finance and Management, with a minor in Entrepreneurship. Coming to UVA, I was actually on the pre-med track until I discovered what McIntire is! I knew McIntire was exactly for me and would challenge me academically, but I didn’t expect just how much fun I’d have along the way.

On Grounds, I stay involved with some amazing clubs. I’m a Portfolio Manager and Director of Engagement for the McIntire Investment Institute, a consultant with SEED, and Chancellor of Delta Sigma Pi. I also volunteer with CASH to help Charlottesville families with their taxes and welcome prospective Hoos as an Admissions Ambassador. Each of these roles has taught me something different, but the common thread has been the friendships and teamwork that come with them.

Some of my favorite UVA moments happen outside the classroom, like when my block won the Comm kickball championship (arguably the proudest moment of my McIntire career so far). I also love spending time with friends, running, working out at Formula Fitness, playing volleyball, hiking with my yellow lab, and cheering on Steph Curry and the Warriors. 

What I love most about McIntire is how collaborative and supportive it feels. Even in the middle of class or late-night study sessions, people are always willing to jump in and contribute, and somehow, we still find time to laugh and make it fun. You also get to meet incredible people from all over the world and get REALLY close with them REALLY fast! 

Fun fact: My middle name is spelled wrong on my birth certificate...thanks, Dad!
