Hi everyone! My name is Ella Kate, and I’m a third-year Echols Scholar at McIntire, concentrating in Finance and Management and minoring in Religious Studies. On Grounds, I’m involved with the McIntire Investment Institute, DSP Professional Business Fraternity, and the Virginia Undergraduate Real Estate Club. Getting involved in these McIntire organizations has helped me feel more connected to the Comm community and explore my interests across different areas of business.

I’m also active in several clubs outside of McIntire. I served as the Education and Advocacy Chair for Habitat for Humanity at UVA and volunteered on site, where I helped build affordable housing in Charlottesville. This was an entirely new experience for me, but an incredibly rewarding way to make a tangible impact. I also recently finished serving as President of Defend Our Future, a climate-change awareness organization focused on student engagement and sustainability initiatives.

Outside of class, I love running new routes around Charlottesville and spending any time I can outdoors. I also enjoy watching movies with friends and taking my dog on long walks when I’m home in Baltimore.

What I’ve appreciated most about McIntire so far is the collaborative, supportive environment. Working with classmates who bring such diverse interests and perspectives has pushed me to think more creatively and grow both personally and academically.

Fun fact: I am going abroad to Copenhagen this spring of my third year!
