Hi! My name is Aly Seidman, and I'm a third-year from Charlottesville (yep, I'm a townie, but that means I have the best food recommendations!). I'm concentrating in Accounting, and hoping to complete a track in Global Commerce as well. I am also completing a sustainability minor outside of McIntire.
I love to keep busy, so over the years, I have become involved in a number of organizations at UVA that I have loved. My first club I ever joined was a volunteer club, College Mentors for Kids, and it has been the most amazing and rewarding experience I have ever had—I recommend the club to everyone. I am also in a student-run full symphony club (Cavaliers Symphony Orchestra), work as a teaching assistant for financial accounting, and am involved in leadership in my sorority.
In my free time, I love to get outside and be active. Some of my favorite things to do around Charlottesville include hiking at Humpback Rock or Old Rag; visiting the farmers market; and playing intramural sports like soccer, pickleball, and beach volleyball.
So far, I've had a wonderful time at McIntire—the classes have been so engaging, it's so nice getting to know my block and getting close to my group, and I've loved having classes in all our beautiful buildings. All of the students are so engaged, and the professors genuinely want to hear what we have to say during class discussions and office hours. In general, I think the community of McIntire is really what makes the experience for me. I've also loved all the real-life simulations we've done through case studies and our semesterlong project with our corporate sponsor. It has been super cool to get to engage with the executives and try to strive for the kind of work that would be expected by associates in the company.
Fun fact: I started playing flute in 5th grade, so I’ve been playing for 11 years now!
