Seed Grants

The Center invests in real estate research conducted by UVA faculty through our competitive seed grant program, which aims to support research that produces or provides the foundation for high-quality journal manuscripts, books, federal (or foundation) grant proposals, or doctoral dissertations. Proposals must focus on real estate or be directly related to the built environment, and may involve research that is underway, but not substantially completed, at the time of application. The program is open to individual researchers as well as to teams.

Household and Urban Finance (HUF) Lab

The Household and Urban Finance (HUF) Lab at UVA conducts research at the intersection of financial markets, public policy, and urban spaces, delivering insights that improve policymaking and enhance households’ economic well-being.

The HUF Lab supports the acquisition and maintenance of data for researchers, connects a diverse set of collaborators from the academy, industry, and governmental organizations, and provides space for debate and discussion about on-going research efforts. The lab produces state-of-the-art academic research that deepens our understanding of the complex relationships between individuals, institutions, and the built environment in which they interact.
