White Ruffin Byron Center for Real Estate

Industry Partnerships

Your company’s annual support enables the White Ruffin Byron Center for Real Estate to pursue its mission of enriching and amplifying the real estate experience for students by exposing them to the most current business challenges and applying theory to practice. Partnership also offers organizations a unique opportunity to build visibility at the University and form deeper ties with students and faculty. Expand your brand, connect with students, and invest in a partnership flexibly designed to meet your organization’s unique goals.

Premier Partnership ($5,000)

Premier Partners have priority access to participate in a wide range of signature events designed for students in UVA’s Real Estate Minor, McIntire’s Real Estate Track, and the undergraduate real estate club, many of which are open to all UVA students. Your partnership automatically supports:

Real Estate Speaker Series

The eight-part series provides a venue for students to learn about the variety of careers related to real estate. Speakers provide context for their firm within the real estate market and descriptions of entry-level roles and career paths. Using a case, the speaker illustrates current challenges, uncertainties, and innovations in the real estate industry. Networking is central to the event, giving unstructured Q&A opportunities as students explore their career interests.

Women in Real Estate Panel

According to ULI, women make up 25% of its membership but account for only 14% of its CEOs. UVA brings together the community of women in real state to share their experiences navigating the industry and showcase the diversity of leaders, perspectives, and passions in real estate.

Virginia Undergraduate Real Estate Club (VUREC)

Engage with club leadership and participate in information sessions, training workshops, case simulations, and more. Help students develop the skills needed to make good buying, selling, lending, and investment decisions.

“Get to Know” Real Estate Careers Series

Hosted by VUREC throughout the year, “Get to Know” gives employers an opportunity to introduce themselves, share ideas, and network with UVA students interested in real estate.

Case Development

These proprietary assignments are used as case examples in the classroom and in exams highlighting decision architecture in real investment/development/leasing transactions.

Site Visits

Hosting students at your office or development site provides pre-experience students the opportunity to visit an organization, get an inside look at an industry and possible careers, and meet alumni and recruiters.

Externships

Provide a short-term immersion into your business. Whether job shadowing, networking, or working on a project, externships are a great opportunity for students to explore career options, make valuable connections, get real-life questions answered, and learn what it takes to be successful in a real estate career.

Real Estate Mentorship Community

UVA’s virtual mentorship community builds relationships between alumni and students to support their growth and development, fostering networking and promoting the pursuit of careers in real estate. Students reach out to alumni mentors who share knowledge and experiences to help current students. Mentoring relationships range from quick conversations to semesterlong mentoring to multiyear relationships that go beyond a student’s time on Grounds.

Other Real Estate Sponsorship Opportunities

Urban Land Institute Partnership

Funding provides students with ULI annual membership, conference attendance fee, and conference travel awards. The oldest and largest network of cross-disciplinary real estate and land use experts in the world, ULI shapes the future of the industry and creates thriving communities around the globe. Engagement with this network will enrich students’ professional networks and further expose them to responsible land use trends. Naming rights for this sponsorship are included during the funding term.

Real Estate Research Capstone

This unique project provides select fourth-year McIntire students with the opportunity to research and write a thesis under the guidance of one or more faculty advisers. The capstone provides McIntire students with the opportunity to learn about professional research methods and practice, as well as career opportunities in research as they write a thesis.

UVA Real Estate Conference

Sponsor UVA’s Annual Real Estate Conference, hosted by the Commerce School, the School of Architecture, the College of Arts & Sciences, the Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy, the Darden School of Business, the School of Engineering and Applied Science, and the School of Law.

Providing valuable and timely insight from thought leaders in the real estate industry, the in-person event examines current market conditions and trends and assesses the challenges facing the industry. Open to all UVA alumni, industry partners, students, and faculty, the conference includes a renowned keynote speaker, compelling, multidimensional panel discussions, lunch with students, networking sessions, and evening reception.
